How to replace the back glass of a 2015 Chevrolet Sierra c1500

How to replace the back glass of a 2015 Chevrolet Sierra c1500

1
The back glass in this truck was broken this morning when lumber in the truck bed slid around. It’s a heated, power window.

picture
The part we are installing is an OEM GM domestic back glass from the Chevrolet dealership. In the photo, you can see the cables that connect to the motor on the left and the heating cables on the right.

2
Installation starts by removing the back seats in the cabin.

3
Then we removed paneling behind the seats as well as the pillar c paneling, those are the covers to the back seatbelts.

4
The motor for the power window has to be disconnected from the cables connected to the broken glass. We had to hold back insulation behind the seats and the back paneling to access the motor.

5
Here’s the window motor about to be disconnected.

6
The glass has to carefully be cut away from the seal.

With the glass removed, excess urethane glue is removed from the body of the truck.

11
Once the excess glue is removed, we’ve got to clean the body of the truck thoroughly of dirt and dust.

12
Primer is put on the body of the truck.

13
Followed soon after by fresh urethane glue.

14
The back is carefully set into position on top of the fresh urethane glue.

15
Pilar c is placed back into position after the heat is hooked up. the motor is re attached and we check to make sure it works.

16

The cabin to the truck is then vacuumed extensively. With the window in place and the heater and motor working, and the cabin thoroughly cleaned of broken glass, we start putting back together the cabin.

17
Bolting the back seats into place.

I called immediately after getting a dent/crack in my windshield to try to avoid it getting worse, and Justin was extremely accommodating and able to schedule me in that same day. He also told me about a service I didn’t even know I had through my insurance company, where the repair payment would be taken care of in full by my insurance (he even called them for me!). It only took Justin about 10 minutes to fix the crack and when he was done, I couldn’t even tell where it had been. He showed me two tiny, almost invisible, grey dots where the crack/dent had been – barely noticeable!

He did a great job, and overall I was very impressed with his level of service and professionalism – would highly recommend!

Augmented reality coming soon to a windshield near you!

Augmented reality coming soon to a windshield near you!

Have you ever wished you didn’t have to take your eyes of the road to check your speed? With an augmented reality windshield you won’t have to.

“HUD systems technology will superimpose vehicle information such as speed, warning signals and indicator arrows on the windshield.

This will allow you to maintain your focus on the road, all while receiving information that would normally require a glance at an instrument panel on the dashboard.

“Augmented reality is — hands-down — the most exciting new advance in HUD innovation,” says Mark Boyadjis, an analyst at IHD. “The biggest opportunity for augmented reality systems is for safety, but imagine a HUD enabling a virtual arrow to be laid upon the road itself as you drive, helping you to navigate more naturally. Other options could be illumination of the road lines or pedestrians at night or in poor visibility conditions.”

As the technology advances, so does your automotive safety. With an augmented reality windshield, the holistic interaction between car and driver becomes fused. By allowing the driver to register more quickly and keeping eyes focused on the road the overall safety is dramatically increased.”
